| here and tired |
I am finally here for my exchange!!! This is my 3rd day in Hk and the careless side of me is appearing... lost the new Octopus card that I bought!! It costs Hk$150 n I've even used it yet... tsk tsk..
When I first got to my room it was sooooo bare!!! Moreover it is overlooking some construction thus the sight that awaits me everyday are the construction workers, scaffolds etc etc.. However, I fell in love with my room after I got it cleaned up and bought all the necessary stuff. So proud of myself!! Oh yah, wondering who my room mate is as she has not arrived. Perhaps she is another exchange student.
Anyway, in case anyone is wondering about my 1st weekend in HK.. its great! Met Aunty Alice and uncle Jack (Sheena's dad's friends) and they helped us checked into the hostel and all. Sheena's parents brought us around to look for the stuff we need, in fact we stayed at her parents' hotel room the 1st day as our room was so bare and dirty. Try to post picts soon!!! Haven't gotten the internet in my room set up... feel so handicap w/o it.
Everyone talks to us in Cantonese as we are Chinese thus they assumed that we know, hopefully by the time I leave I can blabber in fluent Cantonese.. okie mayb i shouldn't have too high expectation... blabber in passable cantonese!
Now trying to settle my courses!!!!

| summer flings |
One of my bestest fren is finally back and as we were busy catching up yesterday, she said something that got me thinking, she said.. "Esther, I don't think that I am suitable to have flings, tried but can't seem to take it easy". Frankly, the question that came to my mind was "is there a difference between a short-lived relationship and a fling?" Aren't there times esp when we are much much younger, we will get into relationships that are unfortunately short-lived (such that it's lifespan doesn't go beyond 6 months)? Personally, I have some of those expriences myself and think at least half the people i know had similar expriences, so are these considered as flings? Or must a fling be one that was entered with mentality that its not meant to last and its all just for the fun of it?
Well, one may say that short-lived relationship is different from flings because one enters a relationship to make things work just that along the way things don't turn out the way one wanted... while a fling is all for fun. BUT, if thats the case, whats the difference between casually dating and a fling? Is it because in a fling, there is some kinda of declaration?
Guess that a horrible scenario is when one partner thinks that its a serious relationship, whereas the other thinks that its just a fling.. or worse still, they are going out like any other friends!
Is everyone suitable to have a fling? Apparently not! It takes some degree of heartless-ness to be in a fling, as it means saying good-bye to someone that u might have formed a bond with, even though it may be not that significant or strong.
So is flinging bad? Personally I do not think so, think its my own personal values. However, I do admit that flinging might make one disillusion with relationships. Its also harder for one to stay in a relationship and try to make it work out when one realise how easy it is for one to just get another gal or guy.
So does one get sick of flings? Definitely!!! There will come a point in time where one is so sick of jumping in and out of relationship, and all one craves for is someone who really cares and a relationship that goes on n on n on...
Okies... I am getting confused and illogical. In any case, my conclusion is there is many levels to dating and some are ranked with more importance than others.
oh that silly friend of mine is still pining for her summer fling... a guy that is half the globe away.
Any fling that ever got serious? Well... of cos!!! Don't tell you who... ssshh!! |

| Sliders |
Just came back from my favourite shopping place in Sg- Mustafa. Reasons why I love going there? Simple: 1) Has almost everything under 1 roof. 2 ) Reasonably priced (can even find very good deals). 3) No pesky, over-zealous sales-person following me. 4) Most importantly, its 24hours!!! Nonono.. Mustafa didn't pay me to promote them although they should consider..mmm...
Had my 3rd farewell dinner and totally enjoyed it, in fact I enjoyed it so much that I totally forgot to take any photos even though the camera was in my pocket... sillly me!!! Anyway was watching this show in Discovery channel and found it very interesting, think that name of the program is "electric men". Its about people who has the ability to switch off street-lamps if they go near, something about they disrupting the surrounding electric field. They are also known as sliders. There are many theories on why they are able to do it and the show also featured the methods used quantify these theories. Why didn't they have Discovery channel when I was growing up... missed out soo much!
There are so many things that I am going to miss when I go on exchange...
*yawnz* time for bed.. have to resume packing tomorrow! |

| Finally! |
I feel soo proud of myself, cos i finally gotten a blog! Always wanted to get one for the longest of time but the procastinater side got the better of me. Well.... it was also partly cos i was stuck trying to decide on a user name.. so many choices and options. okiess.. i know that "thesillypurpledog" ain a fantastic name, considering how much time i've wasted trying to come up with an good name, something that represents of who am I and what I am feeling BUT today i woke up n decided to heck it... decided on the 1st thing that came to my mind!
Now that I have started a blog.... I am soo determined to keep it goin.. (hey give me a chance! oh fine i know that my interest always dies off faster than the flight from Singapore to Bangkok.. but i am ohhh sooo determined this time!).
opps.. spent too much time today doin nothing.. gotta get going! Lots of packing to do... but 1st, I need lunch!
